Good news adventurers, dog-mom-and-dads, nature lovers, and serenity seekers! Opening mid-September, a quick 2-hour drive from Cape Town will take guests to a brand new boutique glamping hideaway. Introducing AfriCamps at Karoo 1, Hex Valley where the first glimpse of the Great Karoo awaits!
AfriCamps Boutique Glamping has become a popular getaway option among South Africans with their fully equipped, family-friendly glamping units on the most beautiful working farms, estates, and reserves across the country. Camp number 13 is currently in construction in the unique Karoo landscape of the Hex River Valley!
Thirteen fully equipped glamping tents, each with their own private outdoor wood-fired hot tub, will dot the landscape, leading the way to a stunning natural kloof pool nestled beneath an intricate rock face – an oasis against the arid Karoo backdrop.
With 13 locations across the country, AfriCamps has become synonymous with adventure, relaxation, quality time with family and friends, and getting closer to nature all while enjoying life’s little luxuries. And in true AfriCamps style, each tent at AfriCamps at Karoo 1, Hex Valley will be fully furnished with everything you need for a comfortable self-catering stay!

Imagine luxurious beds, a cosy indoor fireplace, electric blankets, air-conditioning, a fully equipped kitchen, and a spacious rain shower, with all the wonders of nature just outside the canvas. Each tent sleeps up to five guests in two separate bedrooms. Both bedrooms have extra-length queen-size beds, and one of the rooms has an extra single bunk bed above the queen bed – a favourite hideout among the littlest glampers. Both rooms have private entrances to the spacious en suite bathroom.
AfriCamps at Karoo 1, Hex Valley welcomes families, couples, wedding guests, close groups of friends, and even doggos (by prior arrangement) to retreat away from the busy city. Starting from R1390 per night for two adults sharing, bookings are now open for stays from 16 September!

So what can you get up to at this new glamping gem? Various well-kept MTB tracks depart from the farm, zig zagging across the valley. Guests can spot beautiful plant life and wildlife on the farm’s hiking trails. The scenic rock pool provides the best spot for a refreshing dip or for relaxing with a book, and the most adventurous adrenaline junkies can opt for rock climbing against the spectacular rock faces.
The popular Karoo 1 hotel offers exquisite facilities like the crystal-clear swimming pool, restaurant, bar, boma, gym and the popular Karoo 1 wedding venue and chapel.
The surrounding Hex River Valley, known as the gateway between the Cape and the Great Karoo, is a picturesque valley worth a spot on your Western Cape bucket list. The camp is situated just north of the Hex River Pass between De Doorns and Touws River on the popular Karoo 1 Hotel Village.
Surrounding mountain ranges, of which the Matroosberg is the highest peak, create majestic views and beautiful rugged landscapes, softened by the first sight of Karoo shrublands and the dusting of snow in winter.

You can also find AfriCamps glamping locations in Wellington, Stanford, Robertson, Swellendam, Oudtshoorn, Wilderness, Plettenberg Bay, The Midlands, Pongola Game Reserve, Hoedspruit, Hazyview and Magoebaskloof.
