Punjab BJP chief Ashwani Sharma on Wednesday said the roadshow organised by AAP at the expense of taxpayers’ money is unfortunate, claiming that it has exposed that Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab chief minister-designate Bhagwant Mann have no intention of being “aam” but want to flaunt their new status.

Sharma, who wrote a letter to the chief secretary on the issue, asked why the state exchequer was asked to release 2 crore to every deputy commissioner to facilitate AAP’s roadshow.

“It is believed that the money was released to 23 deputy commissioners along with the deputy commissioner of Amritsar to marshal transport and ferry people for the roadshow,” Ashwani Sharma, who is also MLA from Pathankot, said.

“Punjab is a debt-ridden state and we need a sober government that does not waste money in pomp and show,” he said.

“The perception of humility that AAP projected has been busted. Mann is yet to take the oath and he is issuing orders and using the state exchequer,” he added.
