Plans seeking permission to bring two glamping pods to the outskirts of Cookstown are being considered by Mid Ulster District Council.

Lodged by applicant Mrs Victoria Boyd, the application seeks outline permission for the installation of two serviced glamping pods to be operated as a recreation business at lands 100m south of 39 Castle Road, Cookstown.

The 0.20 hectare site is currently in use as a field for cattle grazing.

According to the application, the glamping pods will not result in an increase in daily vehicular movement to the site nor will it involve an increase in employee numbers or others attending the premises.

It also explains the pods will be supplied with water via the mains and any surface water collected as a result will be disposed of in an adjoining river while foul sewage will be disposed of via a septic tank.

Lodged and validated on Tuesday, January 24, the application will be advertised until Tuesday, February 7.

Council’s planners have set an internal target date of Tuesday, May 9 to reach a decision on the application.
