I used to be an avid camper.
Every year my parents would take my brother and I camping – usually Cape Breton Highlands National Park, but we made it to New Brunswick a few times.
Back then we camped in a tent or one year a tent trailer – which got blown over on it’s side during one memorable stormy night.
Once I got out on my own I kept up the tradition – tenting at Risser’s, Blomidon, and one very memorable trip to Gros Morne in Newfoundland.
I’ve never experienced “glamping” which I take it is “glamourous camping”.
That cracks me up because I just can’t see anything glamourous about camping. Usually I look like an unshaven drowned rat in need of a hot shower and clean clothes when camping.
These days I’m more of a hotel or cottage “camper”. And if I need to get back to nature I walk around the backyard at home.
How about you? Do you still camp, glamp or do the cottage thing?
By the way, reservations for provincial campgrounds start on April 5th for Victoria Day weekend openings, with most opening fully in June.
