Adding comfort to the great outdoors, Timberline Glamping is making camping more luxurious.

Glamping, a combination of glamor and camping, brings the style of hotel accommodations with the recreation and outdoor experiences of being in nature. Rebeka Self and her husband Nathan started the company five years ago after a family vacation sparked the idea.

“We had remembered seeing this glamping concept, it was really popular in England and in Australia, so we started researching to see if we could find something like that here just for our family to go visit, and there really wasn’t a lot of options in Georgia or surrounding states that have this,” Rebeka Self, a co-founder and owner of Timberline Glamping said. “We just decided to go out and start this on our own. We thought it would be kind of a fun little side business for us and it pretty much overnight became very popular and we grew really quickly, which is exciting.”

The Clarks Hill Location at Wildwood Park is approximately 10 minutes away from Evans, Georgia, and opened in April 2021. Inside the safari and bell style tents you can find things from regular hotel stays.

“We want people to have that traditional camping experience outside, but be really comfortable as if they were in a hotel inside,” Self said. “… Inside there is real bed frames and memory foam mattresses and they are super comfortable … and we have a mini fridge and a Keurig coffee maker and the most important thing in Georgia, we have a really good residential style AC and heater so that is always good and we have, we try to do a lot of details.”

Self said glamping is an easy way to access nature for those who want to spend time in nature, but not hassle with traditional campsites.

“It’s definitely a good place to start if you are wanting to get out and enjoy the lake or enjoy nature. It is a really comfortable way to start and you really are just going to show up with your clothes and some food maybe and you are going to start enjoying it so you don’t have to worry about setting up camp,” she said.

The year round campsite has lake access, disc golf, mountain biking, fishing and more.

Timberline Glamping has several locations across Georgia and the Southeast. To learn more about how to book a reservation, visit their website.
