LAND owners of a glamping site near Helston have pleaded not guilty to breaching an enforcement notice issued by Cornwall Council to cease activities at the site.
Alex Persaud, aged 42, of Underlane in Wendron, appeared in front of magistrates at Truro Magistrates’ Court alongside Marjorie Persaud, aged 71, and Stephen Roberts, aged 74, of Trevarth Road in Carhack, Redruth, on Wednesday, December 14.
Alex Persaud appeared on one count of allegdely being a person other than the owner of land to carry on or cause or permit activity in contravention of an enforcement notice, while Marjorie and Stephen both appeared on one count of being land owners allegedly breaching an enforcement notice.
The offence was said to have taken place between Saturday, June 18 and Thursday, July 14 when all three defendants allegedly failed to cease the use of land known as Lavender Parc, Land South East of Carnkie Farm, for glamping.
The enforcement notice the defendants were served also included ten requirements including the removal of six raised decked platforms, however, the full list of requirements was not read out in court as magistrates had already read the bundle.
During their hearing, all three of the defendants pleaded not guilty.
During their hearing, all three defendants were told by magistrates: “These matters are listed for trial for February 3rd.
“I have to warn you, if you fail to attend on that day at that time, they may decide to go ahead in your absence.”
The trial of Alex Persaud, Marjorie Persaud, and Stephen Roberts will take place at Bodmin Magistrates’ Court on Friday, February 3, 2023 at 10am.
