Our stay cost £321 for 3 nights in a glamping cabin.
Our visit
There are currently a total of 4 timber glamping cabins on site, all of which have their own parking space, outdoor seating and a little covered veranda. Inside the cabins there’s a double bed, an L-shaped sofa that converts into a sofa bed, Freeview TV, a small seating area, mini kitchen and a wetroom-style toilet and shower.
This is a style of glamping cabin I’ve stayed in many times, and I found this one to be comfortable and well-appointed. The fridge was a decent size, and although there is a microwave, toaster and kettle, I opted to take my gas camp stove with me, whilst other guests appeared to be cooking breakfast and evening meals on barbecues.
The guest information pack was excellent, with lots of helpful pointers on things to do in the area and I thought the red telephone box which serves as a mini book and DVD library was a quirky touch.
Local area
The Yorkshire Dales National Park visitor centre is located a 20 minute drive away from the site. Parking up there opens up numerous fabulous walking routes, including the easy hill walk up to Malham Cove and the gentle woodland stroll to Janet’s Foss.
Walking routes from the visitor centre are well marked and easy to follow and walking to Janet’s Foss then on to Malham Cove and back made for a lovely 9k route with some stunning views.
The park is a short drive away from the gorgeous little town of Grassington where I had a lovely wander and a delicious post-hike lunch at The Devonshire.
The verdict
This is a lovely small, quiet country park that’s beautifully landscaped, with well-appointed glamping cabins. There are great walks right from the doorstep and dramatic scenery all around.
I didn’t have time to walk to Gordale scar whilst I was there and it’s a walk I really want to do, so when back in this area again, I wouldn’t hesitate to choose Littondale for my return visit.
My only minor gripe was that I was in a dog-friendly glamping cabin, and it did whiff of wet dog a bit. Those without pets would be better off ensuring they book a pet-free cabin and enhanced airing in between guests might help dissipate the pong a bit.
The staff on site were super friendly and helpful, everything, including the main site shower block was spotlessly clean and other guests were also very friendly.
Glamping at Littondale Country & Leisure Park makes for a peaceful break and the proximity of the park to such fabulous walking, makes it an absolute must for those wishing to explore the Yorkshire Dales on foot.
