Families with children often look for certain features when shopping for a new home, such as a mudroom, a large backyard, or a flex room. DINK couples — that’s those with a dual income and no kids — can do with a little less space. In fact, they might be looking for something a bit more mobile, like the Jayco 2025 North Point Fifth Wheel.
Larry Cunningham, president and general manager of Cunningham Campers in Clarksville, Indiana, said most potential Jayco 2025 North Point Fifth Wheel owners are people who will live in it for a few months out of the year, but there are those who might make it their full-time residence. After all, it boasts all the amenities of a typical house. It just so happens to be on wheels.
Large living space
A wide-body camper is one that features a wider frame than most, allowing for additional living, storage, and towing space. According to Cunningham, these are typically 96 inches wide. The new Jayco 2025 North Point Fifth Wheel, however, boasts a 102-inch width.
“It’s a larger living space,” he said, “and that allows (for) wider slide-outs, bigger sized furniture, bigger beds.”
Cunningham added that campers with those highlights are usually 45 or 48 feet in length. But because of the 2025 North Point’s width, Jayco was able to fit those features into a 43-foot long space.
Naturally, moving this fifth wheel is no easy feat; it requires a heavy-duty, three-quarter to one ton truck to get it on the road. But as Cunningham pointed out, a comparable amount of space in a motorhome could cost up to $300,000, whereas the 2025 North Point starting price is significantly less than that — and Cunningham Campers will be offering it at a $43,000 discount during next month’s Discover Boating Louisville Boat, RV, & Sportshow.
Bath and a half
“This is what we call a bath and a half unit,” Cunningham explained. “It’s got — like a house — a (primary) bathroom there in the bedroom, then a half bath out there in the kitchen.”
The primary bath is spacious and boasts an adjustable, handheld spray head as well as a solid seamless countertop. Its adjoining bedroom features a front wardrobe design with drawers and a hamper — a new feature to the Jayco North Point — as well as a king-sized bed. Additional sleeping areas are available in the living room, on the trifold sofa beds.
“So, you’ve got two more beds up there if you wanted them,” Cunningham said. “You can sleep a lot of people if you really wanted to, but it’s more of an entertaining environment.”
The space also features a set of recliners that face a TV on a televator, which sits just above an electric fireplace.
All the comforts of home
Speaking of entertaining, the fifth wheel is also equipped with everything one might need to whip up a full meal. The residential appliances are all GE, including the refrigerator, convection microwave, and sink.
There’s also an oversized stove and oven, as well as fun features such as a pullout cutting board over the trash can and a built-in spice rack inside a cabinet door. The cabinets themselves all come with soft-close doors with magnets, so owners don’t have to worry about them slamming or accidentally opening while hitting bumps on the road.
Of course, there are options for al fresco cooking and dining, too. Outside, the fifth wheel boasts a grill, a second refrigerator, and ample storage.
“Some people call it glamping — glamour camping,” Cunningham said, “(but it’s more of) a movable residence. … It’s designed to be more comfortable for a longer term because it is functioning as a home.”
