Today marks a significant milestone— Marriott International has officially acquired the Postcard Cabins (formerly Getaway) brand.
What began in 2015 as a visionary idea from Jon Staff and Pete Davis, long before the term “glamping” existed, has grown into the leading outdoor hospitality company, bringing moments of connection and rest to millions of guests across 30 locations in the United States.
More than 2.4 million guests, to be specific.
For me, the journey started not long after that concept was first born. As one of the first team members in our little Brooklyn office I’ve spent the past 8 years helping transform the vision into reality. My work has been centered on creating an exceptional team experience – the bedrock that powered our secret sauce: best in class guest experience and unit economics.
A heartfelt thank you to our talented and dedicated team members, past and present, whose hard work and unwavering focus on our guests and each other have made Postcard Cabins (formerly Getaway) what it is today. And a heartfelt thank you to Jon Staff and later Carlos Becil, who took a chance on me and kept trusting me to figure it out as the job got bigger and bigger.
I took this photo back in 2016, on my first site visit, standing in the snow as all of our three total guests began to call my cellphone to explain that the water lines had frozen and the power was flickering. Despite the countless challenges that followed, I never stopped believing in the vision.
Now, with Marriott’s global reach, we have the chance to introduce the magic of disconnecting in nature to even more people around the world.
